News » Karimi will not play against Brugge

Ali Karimi has been diagnosed with a cold and will not be fit to participate in tonight’s Champions League game versus Club Brugge.

Karimi started to feel symptoms of a cold prior to the game against Hamburg.  However, having not attended to his illness, Karimi’s condition deteriorated following Sunday’s light morning training session and was sent to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a severe cold.  Karimi’s prescription includes 3 days of full rest; ruling him out of any strenuous activities within the next few days.  His appearance against Wolfsburg is also doubtful.

Karimi’s manager expressed his concern and stated: “Unfortunately, due to illness, Karimi will not be able to play in the Champions League yet.  In any case, the Bundesliga break will be a great opportunity for Karimi to recover and continue his strong presence in the league.  The medics instructed Karimi to rest a full week and have subscribed medication to allay the symptoms.  Due to his high fever and severe shivering, the period of his full recovery is unknown as of yet.  Considering his state, I doubt that he will be able to accompany the National Team during the games against Thailand and South Korea.”
